We didn’t really see this one coming. Washington State’s pride, the punk icons who’ve been around long enough to once have a young, pre-Nirvana Kurt Cobain drive for them on tour, the Melvins, have announced their alliance with billion dollar streetwear giant Supreme New York. Lambgoat reported this morning that the band’s limited merch drop lands tomorrow.
While this pairing look a little out-of-step for the current state of Supreme New York, it does remind us of the brand’s roots in skate culture and the gritty downtown NY where their first retail location opened in 1994. It’s nice to see the blue chip company, which is now half-owned by Vans’ parent company VFC, give a nod to where they came from.
You can purchase the Melvins x Supreme drop here beginning tomorrow morning at 11 AM EST (US). Products in the limited capsule include jackets, shirts, hats, polos, and a pillow featuring Melvins’ 1993 album cover for Houdini.
